I have lots of photos and things to post, but we have had a bit of a change in plans and I will post ater I get home . Two hours after my arrival in New Orleans I slipped off a curb and twisted my foot. After a visit to Tulane Medical Center ER I learned that I not only have a bad sprain but I broke off part of a bone in my foot that is attached to some ligaments. They made an interesting fiberglass splint for my leg and gave me crutches.
I had to spend two days with my foot elevated per doctors orders, but after that I was determined to get out and see the city so on the third day we bought a little wheelchair and propped up my leg with a shortened crutch. Tom pushed me around town for 5 HOURS while we saw the sites, ate and listened to music! It was great fun and actually a highlight of the trip. From my chair I was able to capture much of the time with the GoPro so I'll try to post later.
Now that I can no longer share in the driving we decided to shorten our trip and head home more directly. We were able to see historical Natchez and I'll post photos later along with other things we were able to see.
We'll be home early Friday if all goes well. I am not managing well on crutches due to hand and shoulder issues but I get out of the RT once a day for a ride in chair. I've learned that we can put Glad Cling and Seal on my butt and I can slide out of the Roadtrek. As for my foot, it hurts and is swollen, but I am determined not to let it completely spoil the trip. Curretnly
I am truly blessed to have Tom by my side to support and love me. I will heal in time. In the meanwhile I am trying to find ways to prop up my leg while we travel home.
