I love taking photos while Tom drives. We try to share in the driving since we both like to be driven.
Later in the trip we have some reservations in some great campsites, but for this area the campsites were not appealing so we prefer the free nights in parking lots that we find at OvernightRVParking.com
This photo is from Montego Casino parking lot where we stopped for the night. Good thing we have black out shades. Half of the parking lot was in Nevada, but we stayed in the Utah side.
There was a prescribed burn to control the invasive Phragmites which created interesting contrast with the grass.
The train station was directly across the street from the Virginian Hotel. It was once a central location. Today there are 100 residents in town and the station is a museum.
Des Moines, Iowa state capital building
Des Moines, Iowa has the most impressive public art that I have seen. It is well place to harmonize with the locations and I feel the art greatly enhances the city. We saw many groups of children exploring the public art in the parks while doing learning activities. You can see some of the art in Des Moines at this link Des Moines Public Art . We made a selection of five locations to see the art. The first group was in the American Enterprise Art Park, northwest of the intersection of 5th venue and Watson Powell Jr. Way.
On the other side of the sphere you could see a church across the street and if you looked closely there was a red metal sculpture outside of the church.
All of these pieces together made for a great experience in this location.
Great collection - included below are some of the ones that I liked in particular
There were three large groups of children exploring the art with their teachers and doing learning activities here.

Diner next to truck stop in Iowa
We look for truck stops for their cheap gas prices with our phone apps.
Iowa farm house
After leaving Iowa we headed to Chicago. We LOVED Chicago with its great history and architecture. See us at the the Cloud Gate Sculpture or know as the Bean in Millennium Park, Chicago, Il.
Lot of photos to come!
